The Challenge
While there are many platforms that enable vendors to sell their goods online, they sometimes do not offer the flexibility and pricing structure to enable vendors to run their businesses with as little costs as possible: Building a self-hosted web store for a golf wear brand
The Solution
Here we were responsible for almost replicating the Shopify experience while bringing the costs down for ITU Golf Wear, our approach? WordPress + WooCommerce to enable CMS + Shop Management. We empowered the store owner with the skills required to run their store on WooCommerce, hooked up Courier Guy and Payfast for seamless shopping experience for the user, this in the process improved on the overall shop manager experience as most tasks are automated
My Role
Thiftking Design was responsible for the technical architecture, front end design and lastly the overall User Experience
The Process
After the initial call with ITU we knew that we had to make use of the worlds most populous CMS along with e-commerce enablement for the same, we also thought it needful to have a payment gateway that'll allow a seamless shopping experience.
Reflections on my experiences
Though timelines were a bit cramped for our liking, we realised that the tech stack we chose was able and up to the task, not once crashing or falling over.
